Direct Motivation

The normal, healthy way a person is driven to do or behave. The incentive is ‘pure’ – by that I mean simple, direct, without inner conflicts or hidden agendas. The motivation is geared towards the content of the behavior: you wash the dishes to get the dishes clean, not to impress your mother in order to fulfill some requirement your inner child is operating from in order to get approval.
Compare with Indirect Motivation

There is no goal other than the thing or action itself for its own sake, or the direct, obvious, ordinary result of the action. Nothing is at stake subconsciously as is the case for Indirect Motivation No major fears are operating and there is a basically relaxed quality to the motivation, not the compulsive, addictive quality of Indirect Motivation.
